Jim retired in Post Falls to be near his daughter and grandchildren. Since then, he's been getting to know the region in the Chrysler Pacifica he bought with an STCU auto loan.
He's driven over Lolo Pass, enjoying the hot springs and marveling at the rafts bucking rapids on the Lochsa River. He's seen the view of Chimney Rock from across Priest Lake. Hes watched bald eagles at Wolf Lodge Bay.
"There can be twenty of them out there, soaring, diving for fish," says Jim. "They're breath-taking."

But don't expect him to stick to plans.
“Sometimes,” Jim says, “I like to just get in my car and drive.”
